RVParkReviews.com???

Okay...wanted to see if others have had a similar experience with RVParkReviews.com when trying to post a negative review of a park...maybe my situation is unique?

Anyway...I tried to post a review about a park that did not honor my incoming reservation because they chose to allow existing campers to extend theirs and thus not having room for me (a first BTW after many many CG reservations and visits).

I tried to review the park and state my issue and what happened so others would/could be prepared that a reservation really doesn't mean a reservation in my experience and this place should really operate as a first come/first served place.

My initial response from admin over there was to remove the owners name from my review and focus on the situation in not so much detail...so I modified my review and resubmitted.

Then I get a response from the RVParkReviews.com admin and it stated they are looking for things about the park, like utilities placement, pad levelness (is that a word?...LOL), pad condition, restroom cleanliness, laundry facilities, etc.

I tried to explain to the admin that if he read my review he would understand that I was never given the chance to actually stay at the park to know about all those things since the CG chose not to honor the reservation I had and had me scrambling looking for another CG at almost 6pm in the evening! I further went on to ask if they only wanted good type reviews or real world camper experiences with every facet of the campground experience from those of us that have had to deal with the CG and their staff. I have never heard back.

So my question is...is it common that RVParkReviews.com is essentially censoring or not allowing/posting all threads that are submitted from campers that have had experiences with CG's?

If my experience with submitting that review is not uncommon...how many other reviews have been posted over there that are similar in nature describing the reservation experience that we never get to hear?...

I realize forum sites need to "review" posts before they are posted (like trip advisor, etc)...but...I know that if I was looking to stay at a CG...I would want to know about every facet of the CG and how they treat their campers...not just how clean the bathrooms are...so I was somewhat surprised 1) by the lack of last response by admin over there and 2) the stuff he/she said they wanted in their posts about a CG...kind of worried me that perhaps using that as a source for CG info may not be as reliable as I had thought...and I use it all the time when looking at a new area...

Thoughts?

Joe.

I had similar dealings with the admin at rvpark reviews.... below is a post I put on this forum a couple weeks ago----------------

"I too have had a review rejected/censored with the reason being " what you experienced may have been a one time event" . (I had placed many reviews on the site in the past.)

In this review ,I posted that the power/voltage was good, the water pressure proper, rest rooms clean. I complained that the staff was rude in my review and as a result, the review was not posted due to the above "reason". Why I said the staff was rude was we had called for a pull thru to accommodate our 43 ft MH pulling a pickup. They said no problem. We got there and they put us in 2 back to back sites, still no problem. They instructed us to pull out thru the site across from us to get back on the access/exit road as the roads were very narrow . OK, no problem, that is until they rented the site that we were supposed to exit thru. Why they did this is a mystery as the park was about 2/3 empty. I went to the office and the staff member that had told us we needed to exit thru the site said we'd just have to wait until those campers left. I explained that we were leaving early in the morning as we had a full day of driving ahead of us the next day. She said too bad, you'll just have to wait. I went to the new campers that were in the site that we were to exit thru and explained the situation and they went to the office and told them they were moving. As you can see the staff was not helpful. So that's what I put in review--- which was rejected.

I can only imagine that this park was a sponsor of some type for RVPARKREVIEWS hence, the censorship of the less than positive review I wrote.

I will never use RVPARKREVIEWS again, knowing that the website manager censors truthful reviews. You just can't trust what they choose to publish "
  • Dodge,

It is disheartening that these sites are going this way...as a person that is blindly traveling to a potential business/CG...I want information.

I also realize that people can post about a business/CG that never really patronized that place either...the web is full of scammers/losers...so the balancing act is difficult.

However the admin that is reading reviews should be able to tell initially or through follow up communications that the person is legit or a scammer...it troubles me that I'm not getting all the information by this practice of censorship...had I read about the CG in question doing this with their reservations and then have the experience with making my reservation go as it did...serious red flags would have gone off in my head...and I would have looked elsewhere rather than show up there at ~5:30pm and waste ~1/2 hour with the "manager" before leaving...and then scrambling to find another place...but I guess that's where we're going.

We're doing well...we camped down at Whitewater SP near Richmond IN last weekend with some fellow RV.netters...Tracey and I also hit the bourbon trail in KY and Gatlinburg/Smokies in early October...I winterized the bus this past Monday and will take her to the barn tomorrow for long winter sleep.

We did Orlando, Myrtle Beach and Charlotte area this summer too...had a great year.

Just booked our Alaska trip for next summer (not taking bus)...

    How are you guys doing?

I don't know about "recently", but bad reviews are (or at least, have been) posted regularly on RVP. Actually, I love skimming the reviews and reading the 1 star reviews, being glad it wasn't me who was camping!

I've had some reviews sent back or delayed: First was when with my first reviews, I was told (politely) that you have to submit 3 reviews before they will put them on the forum. Then my most recent review was sent back (again, politely): I reviewed a campground that had a bunch of negative reviews. My experience was positive, but we were only visiting friends there and didn't actually look over the campground much. The moderator told me that they prefer reviews from people who actually stay at the campground or at least have a more detailed review - so they did reject a "positive" review.

So, I still very much use RVParkreviews.
  • Hi Joe. no it`s not just you, this seems to be a recent new trend for them. I had posted 3 in the past that didn`t get posted and I never even got a response from them. I had to get ahold of them and they gave me a story that my spelling wasn`t so good.....really? LOL I consider my self an excellent speller. and others they just never responded to.

I have read on other sites of the same experiences. I hope they are not going this direction it would change the credibility of the site. Angies list is the same. if you post a bad review, the company that had the bad review has the opportunity to appeal it and change the review if they feel it is unwarranted or if it is ironed out with the customer. I say if it happened once it will happen again, hence the review and the need to leave it.

    Very disappointing!

    How is everything else going?
