The OP chooses to be partisan, the opening post containing "($22 million for the frivolous July 4 parade)" is an example. There are how many parks? And there is how much money available in a general fund?
It did not all come from his one chosen park. Yet that seems to be where he wants to claim it.
The parks are always going to be a difficult issue. Urban , inner city dwellers , who have no idea whats outside the city limits, or a desire to find out, will always want every nickel to go to rent assistance or mass transit, or whatever happens to cross their "whats trending" list. Most folks here would prefer to see more go to the rural areas. Some want to be so anal as to demand total control of every penny to ensure it ONLY goes to their pet project. But none will get all the things that they want.
We are an imperfect people, doing our best to wade through an imperfect system, to create a somewhat better world.
