In Gulf Shores you probably want to stay at Gulf State Park. If you get a site on the lagoon, you can walk to the beach in less than 10 minutes.
Park has a FHU, pool, local TV/internet reception, beach, fishing pier, zipline, boat rental, lake fishing (alligators don't like swimmers in their lake though). Lots of local restaurants and nearby Wally World to replenish your cold beverage supply.
Not a lot of trees since Hurricane Ivan came through but they have about 500 sites which you reserve a space and pick one when you arrive.
