Nobody has mentioned the historic Trailer Ranch (age 21 and up to stay there.) We've stayed twice and had a great experience both times. I like the adobe walls and small buildings for old southwestern atmosphere. Very close to all the sights.
Across the road is the bus stop for direct frequent bus service into town ($1 all day for seniors, IIRC.) You avoid the parking hassle and it takes you to the farmers market and into downtown a block from the plaza. I used it numerous times.
(Favorite restaurant just off the Plaza - The Shed. I'd plan a stop at Santa Fe just to eat lunch there - great posole.)
Good staff at Trailer Ranch that gives great touring suggestions and guides people into their sites. Nice modern pool. Plenty of shopping for groceries, fuel, etc close by. Next to it is a 55+ community under same management.
While you're in the area, an hour north is Riana COE Campground on the lake beneath Georgia O'Keeffe's favorite Pedernal mountain. You can visit her home by booking online a small group tour offered by the Santa Fe museum. You can also visit Ghost Ranch nearby, for tour of her other home and sites where she painted. Fabulous scenery up there around Abiquiu.
Guess you can tell I love RVing to that area.
