Good Morning - I've been trying to search for RV campgrounds in the Moab, Utah area for several days and the search page just returns an error message. Is this function no longer available? So, since I can't search on my own, I would greatly appreciate any input from anyone that has stayed in the area recently. Our trip will be in October 2016 and we will be visiting Arches, Canyonlands, and Dead Horse Point. (Driving in from San Diego). Looking for campground, points of interest, day hikes, restaurants, etc., that are on your "don't miss" list. Thanks so much and happy trails!

Did you search this forum? Lots of suggestions over the years.

I just stayed at Portal very nice park. I have also stayed at OK Rv Park not very good

We also liked Canyonlands RV for a couple of days to stock up in between longer stretches at Devils garden in Arches NP and Dead Horse Point SP.

It's right in the heart of town. Across the street is a good restaurant, Moab Brewery. Right up the street is City Market, a fine grocery store.

If you're looking for public campgrounds (not commercial), I recommend The Ultimate Public Campground Project. It includes dozens of locations ranging from the mainstream parks to all sorts of remote locations.

We stayed at "Arches" which is north of town and Arches National Park. Nice wide spaces and a good jumping off spot to visit Canyon Lands as well as Arches.

If you choose Portal, stay in the SOUTH cg. Much nicer and not much different in price...Dennis

Our favorites are Dead Horse Point State Park at Canyonlands (electric) and in Arches N.P. (dry camping) but absolutely gorgeous. There are many BLM spots in the area for dry camping.

We stayed at Spanish Trail for a week this past Fall - have stayed at many places in Moab over the years. I would NOT recommend Spanish Trail under any circumstances. Can PM me if you wish.

Stayed at Horse Thief for a few nights (no hookups, no water), then a night at Portal (nice if you like RV parks) so we could restock in town before heading to Devil's Garden for a week. (no hookups, water available). Of the 3 we liked Devil's Garden in Arches, followed by Horse thief, then Portal.

Stayed at Portal over a weekend this October. Town was jumping with all sorts of off roaders. Make reservations early as they were full all while we were there.
