  • If you are an Elks Lodge member, there are several lodges in the greater Seattle area that have RV parking. Non in Seattle proper.

Randy's restaurant is a greasy spoon IMO but many Boeing clubs meet up their and they have all kinds of "Stuff" hanging on the walls that people have drug in from different projects over the years. Don't count of good food or fast service.

You could arrive and park in back and walk (5 min) to museum then eat (if you want) then overnight (if your brave) or head south on I-5 (on ramp next light down) to Tacoma to L&L 47.242515, -122.349668 which is:

    Emerald Queen Hotel & Casino
    5700 Pacific Hwy E, Fife, WA 98424

They let you overnight there. Their betting on you spending some gambling. They do have a good Sunday Brunch IMO.

That would put you closer to Lemay's place and Freighthouse.

In the other thread the OP started, s/he chastised me for mentioning places to eat in the Freighthouse, so be careful veering from campground recommendations.

Here is something not mentioned in above link. I live close by so here is some local info that might help you save some $$$.

Go to google maps then satellite mode and look at L&L 47.512956, -122.293688 That's is Randy's restaurant. In back there is room for about 4 semi's. See how long of walk it would be to Museum of Flight at L&L 47.517485, -122.296667 maybe a 5 min walk.

Randy's restaurant is a greasy spoon IMO but many Boeing clubs meet up their and they have all kinds of "Stuff" hanging on the walls that people have drug in from different projects over the years. Don't count of good food or fast service.

They let you overnight there. Their betting on you spending some gambling. They do have a good Sunday Brunch IMO. I would go inside (if you don't run across security first) and let them know your in back at their (over flow or RV parking area, between their parking garage and gas station)and Thank them. The gas station is cheapest around, so fill up. It is Indian ran and they have some special set up on the clam chowder they have and get. Very good, especially from a gas station believe it or not. They do ask/tell people to move on after about 3 days.

If for some reason you don't like it there down the street (south about a mile)is Camping world. But this time of year I would count on them having room. There usually a couple overnighting there but I wouldn't trust some rv drivers in there parking lot. Last week their yard was full of their rentals and many rv's waiting to get fixed.

That would put you closer to Lemay's place and Freighthouse. By the way LeMay also has a very successful in other things like the garbage business.

So there are some options that might help you out. You could hold on to your $$$ and see both without paying overnight charges for couple 3 days or more.

    Here is Lemay's place http://www.lemaymuseum.org/

I don't know where to get water except in the rest area you'll see on your way down from Seattle to Tacoma on the north side. Dump and water and some (brave) people overnight there also.

Also if your into museums, a real "sleeper" IMO is Northwest Carriage Museum in Raymond (just ask someone, small town). Very small but the workmanship of horse drawn carriages is an education by itself. www.nwcarriagemuseum.org

Side note... you could do the Boeing tour in Mukilteo first on your way down to Seattle before Museum of Flight and plan that time to be there, instead of stuck in Seattle traffic.

    http://www.boeing.com/boeing/commercial/tours/index.page

You can overnight north of that Boeing tour at 48.079700, -122.186371 The Walmart there usually has 5-10 overnighters. Cabella's in same mall has some also.

Just throwing out some options... Hope this helps.
  • This time of the year, you'll have problems finding a campground with an open site. I'd suggest calling the KOA in Kent to see if they have an opening (although I doubt it). Otherwise, I'd suggest staying at one of the campgrounds near Easton, east of North Bend on I-90, and about an hour from Seattle.
  • Lake Pleasant in Bothell is nice. It has easy access to the freeway and you wont have to take a toll bridge from there.
