Thanks for all of the kind words! Dave, I do use a tripod for the "two-person" shots and usually for the blurred-water shots and always for the night sky shots. Otherwise, not -- too much of a hassle to take it off my backpack, set it up, and put it back. Very few of my photos involve patience -- the shot is either there or it's not. The only time we wait for a moment is if the sun looks like it will soon come out from behind a cloud, or if an animal is moving into a better spot for a picture. Real professional photographers are much more patient than I am.
And RWDIII, we were going to go to Lulu, but a ranger told us that the hike had been marred by all of the dead trees along the trail. So we opted mostly for "view" hikes in the high country on the west side of RMNP, rather than forested hikes.
