September in Washington (North Cascades & Olympics)

We spent September camping and hiking in the North Cascades and the Olympics, almost all of it dry camping in National Forest and National Park campgrounds. (We did get some rain, but it still counts as dry camping -- no hookups.)

Here are the links to the three blog posts covering this trip -- if you have a few minutes, please feel free to browse through them. (The trip report is just too long to post here -- so I have made it available on the blog -- sorry for any inconvenience.)

Part I: North Cascades

Part II: Mt. Baker area

Part III: the Olympics and the rain forests

And here are a couple of sample pictures -- this is Mt. Shuksan at sunset:

And this is the Hoh River:

  • We're considering Washington as a destination for our trip next year!

Thanks for sharing that beautiful part of the country.
  • Thank you for posting these great photos and your reports. I was stationed at Fort Lewis back in the 80s and 90s and fell in love with the area. I'll finally be retiring in 18 months and can't wait to move back there (still have a house in Tacoma) and spend some time in all those places.

    Thanks again.
  • welcome to my back yard, now please stop showing how beautiful it looks we don't want a bunch of people to come up and enjoy this beauty, peacefulness, good fishing, and make the kind of memories you went home with, the next thing you know they will move up here and never leave, this is starting to sound like a chapter out of my life, lol
  • Thanks for posting your awesome pics and travel log here. I'm so envious as we are yet to purchase our rv and enjoy travels like yours. We are getting closer tho because we spent 3 days down at the Pomona RV show...lol
