Ship museums in Great Lakes area?
Which are "best."? Has anyone been to the one in N Chicago? Is it enough better to make it worth going into Chicago? Thanks!

Ditto on the museum at Whitefish Point north of Paradise. Also the Vally Camp tour and museum at Sault Ste Marie, MI. Last, though not a "ship" museum is the Les Cheneaux Historical Association Historical Museum, Maritime Museum and Boat Show in Cedarville/Hessel area of the UP. Also in the Les Cheneaux area is a boat building school, one of two in the country, where they teach wood boat building. Absolutely outstanding craftsmanship. I liked the offerings in the Les Cheneaux area best. I enjoyed Loons Point CG, Cedarville, while I was in the area last year. If you are an Elk, their camping facility in Sault Ste Marie provided great viewing.
