Should we drive from Lansing, Mich., to Tucson, Arizona?

We're trying to decide whether to drive our oldest to the University of Arizona in August. Anyone do this route (or similar) before? Google maps says 28 hours; Mapquest says 30 hours. Either way, t...

BTW In the summer the typical parking lot tree is 8' high with small 1/4" leaves. It becomes a prime parking area. :B
