Site to explore Adirondack camping oppturnities

Now that winter is upon us with the snow and ice I find myself planning next spring and summer's camping trips. I found a great website to explore locations in New York's vast multi-million acre Adirondack Park. The site (campadk.com) features over 12,000 pictures of campsites and maps of campgrounds in the Adirondack Park. A lot of work went into this extensive photo array. You can use it to discover that perfect spot to spend some quality time enjoying some of natures best!

One tip: Be sure to bring everything you will need with you as some parks are many miles from the nearest supermarket....no Walmart Super Centers "just around the corner" !

Happy Camping.

  • Now that we are retired our policy is to only camp on week days and avoid some of the crowd.
Best months to camp in the northeast are when schools are in session. When children our out on vacation peace and quiet are hard to come by in many campgrounds.
  • Aware how booked it tends to be. We cancelled a last minute trip to the area this past summer as we could not find a place to stay for more than 1 night.
Future plan is to try for fall weekday trip...
  • Another tip for these Adirondack Park Campgrounds.....in July and August many are booked solid.
You can reserve any site. If you want to avoid the busy season suggest May and early June...also September/October after school is back in session. The fall colors are fantastic in October and late September.
  • Thank you for sharing this, Uplander.
Took a brief look, appears to be an outstanding resource for the area.
