Sleeping Bear vs Kelley's Island / Cedar Point

Need your help! We have booked our summer vacation awhile back and we are planning a 3 night trip to Holland Michigan followed by 5 additional nights at Platte River SP in Sleeping Bear Dunes (Trip A). I have been also looking at taking the kiddos to Cedar Point and then maybe doing some camping on Kelley's Island (Trip B). Need your opinion, trip A or or B?!!!!!

I have heard there isn't much to do in Holland but the kids will want to hit the beach.

What do you enjoy doing? What do your kids like?

I have worked in Holland the past 18 years and have lived in the area the same amount of time. There are still things that I haven't done in the area that I would like to.

Yes, we have reservations at Holland and Platte River. We have a spot right on the beach in Holland. I have heard there isn't much to do in Holland but the kids will want to hit the beach. Maybe we just do two nights in Holland, two at the amusemant park and 4 nights at Sleeping Bear. It would be alot of packing and unpacking although better than being at work!

Duck Creek RV park is next to Michigan Adventure and looks really nice.

We still don't know what these kids will like, but be ready to revise your itinerary on the fly. You can easily kill two WHOLE Days in Holland.

  • I know what I liked in Holland, Holland Brewing and the Dragon's Milk and Mad Hatter.
  • Kids enjoy theme parks for sure. What kid don't? They will enjoy kyaking, tubing and swimming and we will take the ferry to Manitou.
