Croton Point looked good when we were in the area, but did't stay there. Nothing else near.
The cemetery in Sleepy Hollow is great. There are a number of great houses to visit in the area including the Roosevelts' (two locations) and the Vanderbilts' (all in Hyde Park), as well as 2or 3 just south of Tarrytown.
We found restaurants were limited in the area (no fast food), BUT a place not to be missed is the CIA -- the Culinary Institute of America. It's in Hyde Park. Located in a former monastery, it is a great school for the chefs of tomorrow. The views of the Hudson and the architecture of the buildings are superb. Tours of the school led by students are really wonderful, but make reservations in advance. As I recall there are five restaurants on the property each with a different style and all run by the students from the dishwasher to the maitre d'. The bakery is great for their breads and pastries. Parking is greatif in a car. If you take the whole rig, give them a call and they'll send an escort along to show you where to park and give you a ride back to the school.
Great area. Enjoy.
