6 people traveling all day would enjoy the local CG vs some parking lot at Walmart.
Break open the wallet and get a site :S
It has nothing to do with cost, but more that we don't want to limit when/where we stop. Around 6PM I want to see how I feel and if I want to drive a little bit more. If not, maybe I will find a local campground and have some fun. If I want to drive until 9PM then I just want to pull off the highway to a nearby Walmart or Rest Area and sleep overnight.
This is well and good, but not fair to the other 5 people with you. Have you considered that maybe, just maybe, they'd appreciate sleeping in a safe and comfortable spot, instead of being wrangled around after a long day doing nothing but sitting, sitting, and sitting!
Stop early and let EVERYONE truly enjoy the trip. Don't be an ogre! Plan on a campground so ever one can enjoy themselves. You might be the driver, but it's THEIR trip too!
I really think that you should let the OP worry about the other 5 people with him.
I am sure he is capable of handling the interpersonal relationships and taking account of everyone's wishes.
Frankly many of us just dont see the point in going through the entire RV Park routine of check-in, set up, listening to the endless lists of what is not allowed etc etc just for a one night stay in a town where there is nothing really interesting and no reason to stay.
And what is this near evangelical fervor that some bring to this subject against staying at a Wal Mart? It seems an odd choice of a subject to get so passionate about.
