Smokemont, NC

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if camping in the NPS Smokemont campground would be during August. I am concerned that the temps will be to high. Also, my parents might want to go and take their motorhome. They are wondering if it is open enough to navigate a class a through.
Thanks, Jeff

  • Thats what I was worried about. I dry camp a lot in the spring and fall. Not a problem. Open some windows and turn on the fan. I didn't know how much cooler that area would be this time of year. I might just have to wait until later on in the fall or early winter.

Yeah. It's going to be hot. That part of the mountains is no cooler than the flatlands. We avoid the area in the summer.

I would check in with the rangers at the site... You are aware there are no hookups here for the air conditioners or the Motorhome...

Looks like generators are allowed in certain areas from 8AM to 8PM
