Smokey Mountains campground question

We are at the Happy Holiday RV Park in Cherokee. Our site backs up to a creek and we have mountain views. Short drive to Smokey Mt park, Blue Ridge Parkway. Drive thru the park and you're in Gatlinburg, then Pigeon Forge and Sevierville.
We also liked River Plantation in Sevierville. It sits at the north end of town.
We also stayed at Cove Creek in Wears Valley. About 7 miles to Sevierville quiet area.

Pigeon Forge KOA (full h'ups/pool) is in the middle of town but a couple of blocks away from the action. Golf course right across the street and a huge city park next to the KOA for biking, walking the dog, running or playing ball. Short cut to go from north of town to south side only a block east of the KOA; Teaster Lane. Gas station a block away and Dollywood just up the same street as the KOA. We stay there since I play golf and the Trolley comes to the KOA entrance to pick up passengers as well.

We prefer to stay inside the Natl Park at ELKMONT but it has no hookups. Have stayed at the camp ground just before the entrance gate to the Natl Park on the Townsend side a couple of times as well. Nice and peaceful with stream side camp sites and hookups. Townsend has everything you need supplies wise and is a quiet and peaceful town...

When we want to blend in with the Gatlingburg/Pigeon Forge attractions we always stay at RIVER EDGE Resort located just as you enter Pigeon Forge from Gatlingburg. This is a easy drive to all locations and a great camp ground with nice people that run it...

We have been visiting this Smoky Mtn area since the mid 70's both tent camping and our POPUP camping. Something magic about the Smoky Mountains location.

The best campgrounds in the smokies don't meet your first two requirements and I won't make suggestions that would be second rate at best and down right obnoxious at worst.

I will X3 on Pine Mountain. We have stayed several times and like others mentioned full hookups, cable, wifi in the entire park, indoor pool and lazy river.

The park is at light 6 on the parkway so not far from Dollywood and the mountains.

We're at Pine Mountain right now, but only pulled in several hours ago. Nice park but Pigeon Forge is a zoo. One of those places that you visit once, just to say you've been there. (Or convincingly say you've never been).

We have not stayed there yet, but are going in April 2o14. We also wanted FHU sites, something with a river or creek. Close to action but not on top of it.

I posted a similar thread and got many of the same responses as you got here. I looked them up and they all had great reviews as well. The one thing that I really didn't like was that looking on Google Maps, many of these campgrounds are essentially parking lots. Not at all what I was looking for so we choose to go out of town a bit. We just booked for the Jellystone in Cosby. Backs up to the NP and has lots of trees; that's more of the experience that I'm looking for.

Jellystone is 11 miles from town though but if you want to be that far out it's fine. If the guy above says PF is a zoo you should be there in the summer when school's out!! His error is not realizing PF/G'burg is so popular with so many people the place is always crowded. That's why it's good to know the streets so you can take shortcuts to get around. It's still a fun place no matter what you like to do. :C
