Smokey Mountains campground question

We are looking at camping in the Smokey Mountains in June or July 2014 and wanted some recommendations. Did a search and checked out several CG's already, but I'm having a hard time. We are looking for a campground that has full hook-up, pool possibly, not too far from the action, but far enough away without a long drive. Would like nice views, creeks, rivers, etc. Any help would be very much appreciated.
  • We stayed at Creeksidervpark.com and it has full hook ups pool clean and ac bathhouse/laundry. It's about a mile of the main drag and when were there the trolley came thru the park and picked up/dropped off. And I highly recommend using the trolley as traffic and parking is tough especially on the weekends and it will take you to Dollywood and with a transfer will run you to Gatlinburg from Pigeon Forge. Pine Mountain is the newest park and the pool is across the street in the hotel but those who stayed there say it's good. Also rvparkreviews.comis a great place to check out too if you don't know about it. Good luck and Happy camping.
  • Thank you everyone for the info. I will check out all of it. Keep the info coming!
Any info on the Jellystone or KOA?
  • I highly, highly recomend the Jellystone in Cosby TN. Excellent place that had a nice little creek coming out of the Smoky's. The back of the park backs to the NP and has some nice hiking trails! They have a pool also. About a 15-20 min. Ride to G-burg. The owners are very nice. Check out RV Park Reviews for them. Highly rated!

Probably Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge but we are open. We heard that Cherokee is about a 45 minute drive to all of the attraction? That could be a good thing..... maybe?

    Agree totally with this.

Pine Mtn. is NOT on the parkway, but only 1 1/2 blocks off of it. It is behind a knoll, so it knocks out much of the noise. It has indoor and outdoor pools, lazy river pool.

It is a short distance to Dollywood, and it's on the Gatlinburg side of Pigeon Forge, so it cuts down on the traffic.

There is a small creek that runs beside the campground and those sites, which are premium are in the shade. #61 is my fave.

  • We have stayed at these two parks and like them both:

Twin Creeks RV Park just outside Gatlinburg--FHU, Pool, creeks, and the trolley to downtown Gatlinburg and other areas has a pickup right there at the park.

Stone Bridge RV Park in Maggie Valley--also FHU, Pool, creeks, and quiet area. Not far to Cherokee and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

  • Foothills RV Park or Pine Mtn RV Park in Pigeon Forge or Camp LeConte Luxury Outdoor Resort in Gatlinburg.
  • There are a few in Townsend that fit your wants.

The KOA in Pigeon Forge has some creek-side spots also, we have stayed there a time or two, but we prefer to stay in the N.P. now.

also some in Cherokee N.C. but your 30 miles of curvy mountain road 441 from PF and GB.
