The trick to Texas is it's an RV'ers friend. Very big state with lots to see. If all you want to do is sit in one park for 4-6 months there are better choices.
If on the other hand you want to move around every month 200-300 miles and see different things, and meet new people, then Texas is the right place.
FWIW this forum talks about the RGV like it's the only place to snowbird in Texas. IMO, it's just one of many areas in Texas and is probably the worst place to spend a whole winter unless you want to feel old, or you just want to sit in one park and save money with sketchy weather.
