Texas is a big state. You can drive all day, call it a night and wake up in Texas. Also take a note of the water and green in the pictures in those links. Can't really say that about AZ.
All that 'green' wouldn't be there in winter. :) Jeeping & ATVing is in mud and in the northern areas - not deep south where winter visitors want to be.
We enjoy many parts of Texas but absolutely love Arizona for big vistas and mountain views.
Everyone is different, for sure - and that's o.k.
