We spent 2 weeks at North Ranch - which was about 1 week to long for us. We geocached all over the place, that was nice. But lack of restauarants, shopping, no cultural events, would mean it would not be a place we would spend several months each winter. We do at least a concert every month while we are here - Muscial Instrument Museum, Mesa Arts Center, Chandler Center for the Arts, Scottsdale Performance Arts Center, and the downtown Phoenix venues. We do museums (love going to the Heard on the light rail), love a wide variety of shopping/restuarant venues to pick from, and of course, the whole month of March for Spring Training. We do our 'back-to-nature' time from April to the first of October while in the Motorhome. For us, the park model in an RV park (pools, onsight grill, onsite salon, all other sorts of activities) just makes sense.

Sounds wonderful, and yes it does make a lot of sense.
We're seeing some of the southwest this winter. Lot's and lot's of "no" and "where."
Rocks and large dirt hills without any culture/entertainment around isn't our cup of tea. Maybe for a week or two vacation, but never for long term snowbirding. I know some love it, just not us.
