Snowbird rates

We are open to all areas at this point. This is our first step in research to find out where we want to go and how much we'll have to spend to do it. We won't be staying in the most expensive sites, ever. But the cheapest might not offer what we want either. We're just hoping to learn what you veterans already know so we can figure out what we can afford and what different areas of the country are like. Thanks.

So... how do people pick a park in an area they have never been in? Just choose based on reviews and photos, and reserve for the whole winter? Or drive down and take pot luck?

I'm most interested in the low-cost end of the spectrum, if that changes things.

Usually this means you will pay this years rate for next year.
Prices go up a bit every year.

All areas are different and I forgot to include in my earlier post! Reservations are strongly recommended for the area that we are in (Rokcport, TX). Most winter texans re-reserve sites prior to departure. Our RV park is already reserved up for winter next year. We used to make our reservations right after the 4th. of July Holiday, however the area has become extremely popular and would recommend making the reservation as early as possible after you have firm dates.

I have found that Florida is the most expensive, then Arizona, and Texas is the cheapest.

At the park where I'm currently staying (like many parks in FL), they publish low season and high season rates. Low season is $460/month plus electric. High season is $825/month (includes electric).

What type of place are you looking for, what amenities do you want? Here in Arizona it can be from $200+ electricity a month to $1000+electricity (or more) depending upon the location/amenities.

In the Rio Grande Valley of Texas from $185.00 a month to $800.00 per month. Average is about $325.00 - 500.00 a month. Reservations not required, best to just come down get a place for a week& visit many parks until you find what you like. The weather has not been great this winter. Much to explore in Texas on the way down and back. Many Minnesotans here.

South-TX runs anywhere from $300-$400 per month depending on length of stay. Normally electric is extra and averages $30-$50 depending on usage. There are hundreds of folks from MN here. We are in Rockport, TX.
