Snowbirds - East or West?

We've spent nine years wintering in Florida. Seems that almost all the snowbirds here are from East of Mississippi. Westerners seem to stay West of Mississippi. How many if you crisscross? Northeast to Southwest and Northwest to Southeast. We are going to Tucson next winter.
  • 12 years fulltime. Spent one winter in Florida. We prefer the deserts of AZ and CA. Family matters will necessitate Florida for the winter 2014/15. :( The following spring and summer may take us back to the North East and the Maritines.
  • Guess us western folks just feel more comfortable with other westerners who speak with our dialect and who like the generally wide open spaces that we're accustomed to (except southern CA) that are offered in AZ, NM, west TX. & UT.

. I understand that. We've spent last four years traveling Western states including Alaska, but have returned to FL for winter. Before retiring, we spent vacations for 24 years in the West. Leaving FL next week for slow trip to Wyoming, then next winter in Tucson.
  • We were midwesterners but one trip out west and we were hooked.
  • "spent a lot of years east of the Mississippi. Went west and never looked back. No desire to RV east" .... ditto
In AZ, you'll see license plates from all over the US and Canada...not so many from the east coast, but lots from the upper Midwest.
