South Carolina suggestions

Do any of you have a recommendation on a CG in South Carolina? We would be 6 adults no kids, FHU and would like a waterfront site that will accommodate a 30 ft TT and a tent. This would be a family reunion with a DS and his DW coming from Charlotte NC and the other DS and his DW would be coming from SW Fl along with me and my DW. I am really not into CG that are like parking lots with no privacy between sites. The Myrtle Beach KOA looks pretty nice and I think we will go in May to try and avoid both the bugs and the families on vacation. No offense to families, I just don't want to take a site away from a family, after all my boys were small once and I know how hard it is to plan a vacation. I've posted this before but only got Georgia recommendations. Thanks for your help.

  • P.S. Don't come to Myrtle Beach in May, if you don't like motorcylces. Two rallies in May. 2nd week & Memorial Weekend. Do your home work!
  • James Island County Park, just outside of historical Charleston, SC

If FHU is not a real necessity, my first choice would be Huntington Beach State Park. Close to Myrtle Beach, close to many good restaurants, big sites, and it's on the beach.

Great place and you still have enough advance time to get good sites for next May. Sites are behind the dunes, with paths that lead to the sand and ocean.

My first choice though would be Hunting Island State Park (similar name but different location) with sites even closer to the ocean if you book early. Close to the charming town of Beaufort.
  • Check out Springfield Corps of Engineers park on Lake Hartwell. The spaces are big, with lots of space between sites. Almost all sites are water front and the lake level is at maximum. It's not far off I-85 and about 30 miles from Greenville.
  • Check out:

    Willow Tree

Just north of Myrtle Beach. The sites are huge, FHU and on a lake. It is one of the nicest CG's we've ever stayed at.

Agree HBSP Is a great place a does have some FHU. Myrtle Beach State Park has more FHU sites but I like HBSP better.
