I'd check the Florida Park website for info on springs in North Florida: Manatee, Rainbow, Homosassa, Fanning and there are a number of others are all good spots to spend a few days. Most have CG but book them early for winter, they fill up.
Best beaches: west coast Sarasota/Branford and south to Ft Myers are all great. The panhandle has excellent beaches some are multiple winners of the 'best in the country". East Coast: Jacksonville south to Miami. And of course the Keys.
Thanks agesilaus, good info on Florida. It will be helpful. We're also hoping to get some info on where to play during the summer in the Southeast prior to going to Florida for the winter.
