Spring break camping in Missouri

Any recommendations for spring break family camping in southern Missouri in mid March? We go to Montauk SP every May, so looking for something different.

Thanks!

IF you are talking about tent camping, you should consider this carefully. I wouldn't do it.
  • If the children are old enough to enjoy Silver Dollar City Theme Park I would suggest Table Rock State Park Campground # 2 and a 2day pass to Silver Dollar City. For days they are open in March call 800-888-7277.
  • We were in Branson last March. Some shows were open and traffic wasn't too bad. Stayed at Shenanigans, but if we go back we'll probably do Lakeview.
  • There are several places along the Current River around Van Buren that are nice, lots of springs in the area. Like welove2drive mentioned, it will be chilly if you want to play on the water.
  • March is cold for So. MO river/ water activities. The new Echo Bluff State Park south of Montauk has a nice lodge, wild horses, cave at Round Spring SP.
Roaring River SP in SW Missouri is nice, trout fishing, trails.
Lake of the Ozarks area has the State Park cave, Bridal Cave, Ha Ha Tonka SP, tour of Dam.
There are many hiking trails in southern Illinois, Garden of the Gods, Cache River, Giant City SP, Ferne Cliffe SP, Cave in Rock, free ferry across Ohio.
We often head over to Carlyle Lake to Eldon Hazlet SP. Plenty of roads to ride bikes in campground. There is a bike trail around Dam West and across Dam and beyond.
