Spring Break..Where Is It Warm Close to Missouri??

We recently purchased a new Cougar Fifth Wheel...327RES and can't wait to get to use it! Here is our dilemma...we live in Central Missouri and will make our maiden voyage over Spring Break at the end of March. We would like to stay as close as possible but hopefully get some where warmer...obviously South. We will watch the weather, but didn't know if traveling south into Arkansas would be far enough south to pick up a little warmer weather for the Maiden Voyage? If so does anyone have suggestions about nice camping in Arkansas?

Any other ideas? We basically want to get out in tne new Fiver close to home but warmer! Thanks!

  • I am in SW Missouri and you never know with March - heck you never know with Missouri weather! All of Arkansas State parks are great - have a trip planned to Petit Jean also in March. Devils Den, Table Rock State Park or Corps of Engineer parks near Branson - even if it is cold always lots to do. Just bring a lot of firewood.
  • We have reservations for a week in the Keys...and we live in Florida. It all depends on the weather which, as you know, has been darned cold so far. Even in Florida it's been cloudy, raining and cold for us. Probably had most of a month with the lows in the 30's and heading back down there at the end of the week.

  • The beaches in Mississippi are clean and uncrowded. They have not allowed a bunchy of condos and buildings to be built on the gulf shore. It is supposed to stay warmer now (let's hope) so should be really nice by spring break.
  • Assuming you mean April, you're going to have to go AT LEAST as far as Florida to have some guarantee of warmth the whole week. We usually go to Florida on spring break and take our grandson and we've found that Orlando can be warm or it can be cold if you're going to Disney, Universal Studios, etc. But we've found it's only warm every day AND night if we go all the way to Sarasota, Naples or further south. Any farther north the days may be nice but nights are going to be cold.

    Tampa/St. Pete is nice.

Happy camping!!! See y'all down the road!!!:)
  • We have stayed at Petit Jean Mountain a couple times including spring break last year. http://www.petitjeanstatepark.com/accommodations/camping.aspx
  • I'd probably head towards Memphis, TN for some BBQ! :) Sorry that isn't much help but I'd think you would need to head into northern Louisiana or something for some warmer weather. We're making a Spring Break trip as well and might go into Alabama somewhere.
