I have an idea of a trip before kids go back to school. We are 4.5 hours away and the goal is to catch some amazing top of mountain views. Question is .... Worth it? Are there any campgrounds nearby ...

Beautiful area and lots to see. Don't miss Seneca Rocks State Park on the way to Spruce Knob. Blackwater Falls is a great place to visit nearby. There are several nice RV camping areas in the area. Blackwater Falls, Canaan Valley State Park, and others not far away. I believe Moorefield has an RV park too.
