St. Andrews State Park

We stayed at the state park over the weekend. We really liked the jetty but other than that - the park seemed dumpy and to open for day use people. They have a boat ramp and public beach area where the jetty is located. But the campground is not secured or sectioned off. Normally that is not a big deal but with all the people coming into that park I would think they would consider a redesign of campground entrance. For now on I think our plan will be to stay at Topsail and just use the jetty part of St. Andrews for a day trip.
  • We had stayed at St Andrews for years. Last summer, the campground stayed flooded because years of neglect of the underground drainage system. They were out every day trying to pump the water out. On top of the flooded sites and roads, the same pot holes from 2010 were still not repaired. The sites have no base to support an RV making the use of boards a necessity. This place is the #2 park in the state as to usage, the campground stays almost full the entire year, but falls flat on maintenance
This year, we decided to try another area SP, best thing we ever did.

    Where did you stay?

    We love Topsail.
  • We use to go to St. Andrews alot in the past and your right the jetty area is nice but the campground does need some maintence. We like staying at Grayton Beach alot quieter and not a bad drive back into Panama City or Destin.

We have noticed that Topsail has not been kept as nice in the past couple of years. Sad.
  • We went to topsail 3 yrs ago and then again this year. Appeared to be the same to us except the road we were on this year had some damage and rutting going on.

We were at St Andrews about 12 years ago. It was ok then I guess. We were in a pop up and our site was right at the water on the bay. We used the bath house and don't remember anything bad or great about it. I do remember that we didn't get the site we reserved though because someone was still on it and the park didn't even know it. Even though you are in the park and don't realize it, you are really close to the action there in PCB.

We like topsail for its appearance and ammenities. But we love the location of Grayton Beach SP even better. If you could over lap topsail onto Grayton, the. It would be awesome.
