As noted, you have to decide what type of camping you want to do. We rarely have hookups of any kind, yet shower daily (gets rid of the mountain biking stench!). You may also find some parks that don't have hookups but do have showers either included of the cost of the campsite or coin operated. We have solar but also carry a generator so the DW can dry her hair (happy wife, happy life). Most summers we take one trip of at least four weeks in length and generally camp around 8 to 10 weeks a year. Except for special places like Yellowstone, Glacier, etc, we rarely stay more than four nights in any one place, so we find a place to dump when we are moving to the next campground.
Of course coming from tent camping and/or backpacking many years ago, we have always been water and power misers.
