Such a thing as an idyllic CG on the US west coast?

This is for the future but am wondering if there is such a thing as a CG that is super quiet, has great scenery, is on/near the water (preferably ocean), has at least power/water at sites, sites aren't cheek to jowl, RVs aren't speeding around the CG, etc... Kinda like what you'd expect in heaven (sans angels with harps flitting about). Can be anywhere from say around San Francisco up to Canada/US border. Might consider BC but prefer the US.

My parents used to have a waterfront cabin on the ocean on a dead-end road near Vancouver (BC). It was in the Straight of Georgia and protected from high winds offshore winds by Vancouver Island.
We spent all summer there every year as a kid, 3+ years in total. No power, tel., water, sewer - no nothing. We swam a lot, beachcombed, had many bonfires on the beach, hiked through the forest, caught lots of salmon & cod, played crokinole for hours on end inside on rainy days, had a pet crow, garter snakes and even a skunk (for a short while), cooked everything on a wood stove and more... In the fall dad took me duck, pigeon and grouse hunting. We lived amid nature with the ocean on one side and the forest on the other. I was privileged to experience that. It's all gone now and there's city style subdivisions there now and it's become a bedroom community for Vancouver for many (despite a ferry ride to get there).

So I was sort of wondering if it's possible to find a place that has at least some of the elements that I came to know so well during my childhood summers. Maybe I'm dreaming and it's not possible nowadays.

Ocean Cove is wide open, but no hook ups. No reservations either.

And Gold Beach Oregon is supposed to be nice.

    Also, Meeks Bay - Tahoe

  • One of our favorite spots is Cannon Beach RV Resort. Cannon Beach Oregon.
  • I'm a California Native and without a doubt you will not be able to find a piece of "heaven" campground anywhere south of San Francisco all the way to the Mexico border except during the weekdays (non-Holiday week). It is hit or miss whether you will find a quiet campground for more than a couple of days at a time.
