If I understand you correctly... you have 2 weeks until you leave Portland and then once you leave Portland, you have 3 weeks until you need to be on a ferry heading to Alaska out of Bothell, WA.
Before you leave Portland, I hope you get a chance to see Multnomah Falls
south of Portland in the gorge. It's not hard to find at all.
Head south out of Portland to McMinnville and spend two days at the Evergreen Air and Space Museum. There is a Good Sam CG there but we've been able to overnight in the parking lot of the museum (boondock-no hookups). This is where the Spruce Goose is ... and that alone is worth going to see.
Between McMinnvelle and Lincoln City is one of my favorite buffet's and it's inside Spirit Mountain casino (and you can boondock in their parking lot.)
There are others that can give better info on the camping between Lincoln City and Astoria. Lewis & Clark NP ...Ft. Clatsop...
Astoria,OR, ... Astoria Column ... seals sunning on the docks ... drive across the bridge and spend some time on the beach... miles and miles of beach.
From Astoria, take hwy 30 east to Rainier, Oregon and cross the Columbia River via the Lewis & Clark Bridge.... then go out to Interstate 5 and head north toward Seattle until you get to Hwy 12... go east on hwy 12 and take in a bit of Mt. Rainier. You might have time to see both the west and the east side. I think hwy 410 is open already. Snow pack was very low this winter but they are getting a foot of snow in some of the passes right now.
From Mt. Rainier ... go to NORTHWEST TREK. Northwest Trek Wildlife Park is a 723-acre wildlife park located near the town of Eatonville, Washington.
and then head to your ferry.
