Suggestions for camping near St Louis

We are attending a conference October 2 - 4 in St Louis, Missouri. It will be at the Sheraton Westport Chalet Hotel at 191 Westport Plaza. Any suggestions of RV parks/campgrounds in the area? Any areas that we should not stay in? We have a 40 ft class A with 4 slides.

  • Pere marquette State Park in Grafton, IL. Yes, it is a drive (50-60 mins) but the lodge and view are spectacular. Campsites are under oaks.

I've wanted to stay at Babler....have not had a chance....it looks and sounds nice.
  • babler st park is 25 min from Westport also in st peters about 30 min but really an easy drive is http://www.stpetersmo.net/rvpark.aspx
  • Have stayed at the Casino Queen RV Park twice and will stay again the next time in St. Louis
  • Edmund Babler State Park is our favorite. Huge sites, manicured lawn and easy access to the highways.

It would be near your conference.

The Casino Queen would be a far drive.

Casino Queen RV Park across the river from the Arch. If you have a toad, it is easy on/easy off crossing the bridge into St. Louis.

^We plan to stay here on our next trip to STL. We haven't been yet, but have heard from other people that it's safe and that the views of the arch are really pretty.
  • We had power problems and a rude CG opreator at the KOA West of town a couple of years ago.

  • Will you have a toad with you? If not, I'd suggest renting a car. On the east side of the city, we have camped at Red Barn Rendezvous in Edwardsville, IL. Nice little CG, convenient to the interstate but road noise isn't too bad. I believe it has only water & electric hookups, no sewer, but it does have a dump station and may possibly have honey wagon service. Older CG but clean & neat, at least when we were there. It just felt nicer to us than the usual RV parking lot with power poles. :)
