Suggestions for the gulf coast first of November

Greetings!
I'd love some suggestions for a fall trip to the gulf coast. We're in central Arkansas, so a day's drive east or west is fine (no more than 15 hours).

We have a truck camper, and will be pulling a 20 foot flatbed with a Jeep. I don't want to stay literally on the beach where you have to let the air out of your tires, but would like to be able to set up camp and watch the ocean, so oceanside :).

We'll have a German Shepherd with us. Would like a site with some room to spread out that allows campfires. We'd like to be able to take our dog with us most places (walking, exploring, etc).

A place where we can buy fresh seafood close by would be a big plus!

Water and electric are a must.

We were looking at Galveston, but welcome all suggestions.

    If your going to New Orleans, you can drop down to Grand Isle state park. Camping next to the beach. Dogs not on the state park beach, but allowed on the rest of the island. The water is not pretty, more brownish. But you can't beat the fishing, crabbing and seafood.

    Thanks everyone, we've reconsidered and are going to try the beach thing. We'll tool down to New Orleans then follow hwy 90 up the coast.

    If we go the first two weeks of November, will we need to worry about reservations? I hate to make them because we like to stop wherever something intrigues us.

    St Joseph Peninsula SP in Florida would be perfect for you. The beach in the park do not allow pets, but the beaches outside of the park are pet friendly. You are camping in between the gulf and the bay.

    I think we've had a change of plans! It doesn't appear that many of these areas are very dog friendly. I think we're going to head to Branson instead. !!

    We are currently on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. They have wonderful beaches, are not crowded, and there is plenty of beach access parking. There are lots of casinos with buffets. Cannot comment on campgrounds as we are staying in a military campground but we pass them on US 90 which runs parallel to the Gulf. And the fresh seafood is wonderful.

    Nothing in galveston meets your requirements other than lots of seafood.
    Go east young man.

    This is a beautiful park. There are two loops in the campground. The Gulf Breeze loop is closer to the ocean but both are within walking distance. Its dog friendly within the park, but dogs are not allowed on the beach within the State Park. However, the entire island of Cape San Blas (where the park is located) is pet friendly and dogs are allowed on all beaches there. It's about 30 minutes from Appalachicola which is the Oyster Capital....and also a dog friendly town. The beaches here are beautiful! If you want a commercial tourist feel with lots of attractions close by, this park is not the one.
