We're also on 5 acres. We're in an area with no natural windbreaks and the wind can get pretty nasty sometimes. Sunday's wind was high but short-lived compared to last week's storm. No power outages in our immediate area.
A tree fell on a car in Seattle and killed the occupant. A tree fell on a house here last week and killed a woman. Deaths from windstorms are rare in the PNW.
Have always wanted to experience a storm at the world famous Wickaninnish Inn in Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island. It's surrounded by the ocean on 3 sides and was built to withstand high winds. The trick is to book a date when you know there will be a big storm. :) Even *if* you magically could, the ferries would likely be shut down tho. :( Wichaninnish Inn
