Tell me about the Camp Ground you Can't Wait to Go Back to

I am extremely grateful for all the people on here who have helped us so much in finding places that are so super and meet our desires.

And enjoy your photography! I have had it for a hobby nearly all my life - 8 years ago I became professional when people wanted to buy from me. I was born at night, but not last night (as they say) so I started selling and exhibiting and it is a great path I have found. Some of my images break "the rules" and they are some of my best selling.

I have taken a little different path on this posting so thanks for bearing with me.

+1 for this entire message. Going for the nature is a priority to us. Trailer Village is still my favorite campground because of the beauty of the Grand Canyon and the wildlife inside the park. Just can't beat memories like this:

Yes, there are other campgrounds just as good or better. But we just love the campground, the parks, the long drive, the planning, the anticipation, etc., etc., etc.

I remember many moons ago when my wife and I were first married and no kids, we would camp there in a tent just so we could stay at Disney. We did this I think three or four years. Now when we go we stay at the values or moderates and isn't cost effective to pull the fiver down 1200 miles. Now whenever we go down there, we always make a trip to the Fort to wander around a bit and catch a meal at Trails End.

I've said to my wife before about just her and I going back down and throwing our tent up again. Good times. Great Memories

Even the pros rarely ignore the rules. Usually when they do it's because they are trying to make a statement or point out something in particular. Like having the focal person looking out of the image rather than in - it creates a sense of suspense in the viewer without their knowing why.

The one that really got me was "move in close - then move in closer". You can easily be too far from the subject, but you can rarely ever be too close. Getting the whale's eye because you are too close has a lot more impact than getting all of the whale plus half the ocean.

toedtoes, you are right! It is amazing what a difference those simple rules of composition can make. Of course, really good photographers have an "eye" that lets them ignore the rules when necessary. For amateurs like me, following the rules have brought my photos from "ho hum" to "that's a pretty nice picture." ;)
