Our son will be performing at a Jazz Festival in Telluride in August. It doesn't look like there are any campgrounds we can fit in in the town. Does anyone have recommendations for campgrounds that aren't too far away, take reservations, and can fit a 40+ Motorhome?

I was in Telluride a couple of years ago. Did not stay at this campground but it looked very nice.. Telluride Town Park Campgroundwww.telluride-co.gov500 East Colorado Avenue, Telluride, CO 81435

If you get right on it and make reservations, you could stay in Ridgeway State Park which is near the intersection of the highway you'd need to take over to Telluride. I don't see how Silverton would work at all, but Ridgeway near Ouray might be what you need.

Not much space in Telluride - 15 years ago an old trailer sold for a Million Dollars because it had a 50 year land lease On a 5,000 sq ft lot - Dirt is not Cheap, and very little is Flat.

The drive from Ouray everyday will be spectacular - Slide on down to Trout lake and the Gravel roads back into the mountains - then over to Lizard Head and the National Forest - just a great place to be no matter where you stay. Love the San Juan's and the Surrounds.

No onsite dry camping? Most music festivals seem to have it. It may be rally style camping but can't beat ambience & convenience of being right there.

Good stuff. Thanks everyone. I really like Ridgeway on the lake, but the wife likes to stay in a town/city so she can walk around to shops, etc.. Probably going to go with 4J in Ouray if I can get a spot.

Priest Gulch RV park is taking reservations now the site says and if you google RV parks on google maps you will see the national forest parks near Telluride.

4J RV park in Ouray is nice. Right on the river and a quick walk to the hot springs and downtown. Ridgeway and KOA are further out of town, but closer to Telluride.

^^^ This. Ridgway State Park. H E R E - Ridgway is the link to the web page for reservations. Make them NOW, if you can. Alternative would be the KOA outside of Ouray, north of town. Silverton is not at all convenient to Telluride for the general population. Only for the hearty few who would take the 4x4 trail between the two -- definitely not for the faint of heart.

X2 (with a 40' MH) It's an easy, very pleasant drive to Telluride. Enjoy the concert!

KOA in Ouray is great place - one hour (normal traffic) to To Hell U Ride.
