Tent camping near L.A. with canoe rental available?

hi there, So my daughter has assigned me the task of finding her a campground within a few hours of L.A. where she can tent camp for a weekend and a place that offers canoes for rent. Also it needs ...

For something a little different- There is a tour company that takes campers/kayakers out to the channel islands. Don't know about pets or canoes. My nephew really enjoys these trips...even took his 6 month old son on one.
