As I write this I'm in The Bluffs, the over-50 cg part of Danforth Bay. I don't know about waterfront sites but there is water access. And if Danforth Bay is anything like The Bluffs it's an impeccable campground. Lots of staff & security, keycode gate access, and while The Bluffs is mostly seasonal campers there are no trash-looking trailers.
We did a canoe trip on the Saco river but the water level was so low it was barely passable. Shopping in North Conway, a ride on the scenic railroad, and did the auto road up Mt Washington (somewhat of a white-knuckle ride!) Tomorrow I think we'll do a trip to Portland.
