Ha! Very interesting. Using the big file means that when you click on expand, the picture is huge. Which is okay, since you can navigate around and center the photo on Half Dome or whatever. But the expanded version reveals the flaws in the image, like the slightly blurred star trails (due to the Earth's rotation during the shot). No problem -- that's what happens with a time exposure.
