This is northwest of Bishop, near Horton Creek. The highest peak in the photo is Mt. Tom, at over 13,600 feet. We were in the Eastern Sierra last week for the Geminid meteor shower -- and the only meteor we caught on "film" (accidentally) was the dim streak over the Sierra crest in the upper left corner of this picture:

The meteor shower, which took place three nights after this photo was taken, was very good -- frequent meteors (one a minute, and sometimes more), and the meteors were mostly brighter and slower than the summer Perseids.
Kind of chilly, though -- the air temp was right around freezing, and there was a pretty good breeze from the north. We sat outside (bundled up and under a sleeping bag) till midnight.
Next December, maybe someplace warmer??
