The snowbird crowd is ageing
Seems to me in Texas the snowbird crowd is ageing, most are over 70 and many over 80. Every year more are too sick or old to make the trip and many have passed on. There are very few younger snowbirds...

You do have a good plan, but if you don't want to make that much of a change then give Texas a try. Won't be as nice as Florida (weather wise) but it's a great state to be a mobile RV'er in. After that then there is the southwest to explore.
