From many of the comments here you would get the impression that only the well off or the wealthy can afford to snowbird. That is certainly is not the case with most of our snowbird friends. I would classify most as lower middle income and a few low income, they are not doing it in a $500,000.00 coach in a $1500.00 a month motor coach resort but they are having just as much or more fun than those that do. I believe that most who have a desire to snowbird could do so.
There are many options, we have known people who have purchased fixer up park models for as little as $3000.00 in RV parks with rent as low as $200.00 a month and they love it & are having a blast!!!!
Agreed. In Zephyrhills Florida it is very cheap to winter over. I know it's cheap - the population is around 13,000 in the summer and it triples in the winter. You can buy/rent a place in an older, clean park very reasonably. It's centrally located ie not where anyone else wants to be but it's only an hour away from just about anywhere you'd want to go. We keep our RV in a park there but spend the days out exploring. But if you want to sit at your picnic table, drink beer and watch tv all day, you can do that too.
You don't have to shovel sunshine!
