Beautiful day near Casa Grande, AZ. today. 71 degrees outside and sunny. But it is coming to an end with lots of rainy days coming through this week. Although this spring the desert will turn green and lots of flowers will start popping out.

Las Cruces is never warm in winter. We tried to winter in southern New Mexico one year and didn't last a month. Moved over to Arizona from then on.

October to April in Thailand. Swim and warm beaches everyday. About the same price of when we are full timing in the US from April to October including air travel.

It really has been nice in the RGV, but I think the problem is we're all holding our breath a little. Clicky. Hopefully this is not the new normal.

On December 4'th we left Gulf Shores, AL. On the 24'th we passed through there on I10 and it was 82. Spent a week in Florida during their record heat wave (wonderful.) On our way back to the RGV Gulf Shores was 53 and Florida was getting rain.

Last night had fun watching the new NFC division champs at Coushatta, LA definitely chilly when the sun went down here. Will be heading into Texas soon and the predicted rain. Hopefully after that the nice weather will return. Going to leave the RGV early in March this year, maybe give AZ a try.

Sorry for rambling, but I'm starting to think a person needs to limit their exposure to RGV weather during the winter. Last winter we took a two week cruise, this winter a week on the beach in Florida.

Came late, will leave early. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Texas and the people, but the reason I spend the money it takes to snowbird is to have a nice winter. I started another thread about snow birding in Hawaii which sound crazy, but when I add up all the money I spend making Texas doable, I might just as well spend the same money on guaranteed tropical breezes.

If we could jet about, I am sure we could experience almost perfect weather year around. The thing about the RGV is that, "The Price is Right". Half the price, or less, than comparable accommodations in Florida. Having said that, I have reservations for the last half of January in South Florida. I hope that I guessed correctly.

I have a lot of friends who leave the RGV in early March, which means that they miss what is often the best month of the year to be here. Not many places nicer in November and March.

Yea it costs twice as much for Florida and it's well worth it. I should not post this picture taken Saturday as we only caught six fish.

Just curious....what are you paying in Texas?

There are parks in the RGV charging $150-$500 a month. I am paying $1,500 for twelve months. I am usually only here for six months.
