Hi,
If you change the dosage it automatically invalidates any medical insurance you have purchased for the visit. All changes must be made at least 90 days before you travel to USA.
Don't volunteer information to the crossing guards.
I flew this year with four months of drugs for myself and two months supply for a person who is an US citizen. There were no issues. I did have the prescriptions with me.
I have sent prescriptions from Canada to USA with no consequences. They were clearly identified on the require documentation.

In the meantime, my doctor from Canada called and said he didn't think I should increase the dosage of my prescription after all, so it looks like we're good for this year. There's still a question for next year.
