Train system for Philadephia

We are wanting to visit Philadephia and will be coming from Newbough KOA north of New York and would like to stay north of Philadephia maybe at Oak Grove Park. Can someone tell me how to get to Philadephia on the SPTA. Is it far to walk from the station to Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. Would also like to visit Valley Forge and maybe Washington's Crossing another day. We be visiting at the end of August.

Thanks for any help.

  • We have made several trips to Philly to visit relatives. Most of the time we stay in Jersey at Timberland. Have stayed in West Chester KOA. West Chester is an easy train commute into the city once you get to the station and not during rush hours. It is not difficult to get from 30th st. to downtown historic sites. Wa. Crossing and V.F. are best by toad unless you sign up for a tour. Many tours are available at both of the mentioned parks.
  • When we visited Philadelphia we also stayed in an rv park a ways out of town. We drove into the city in our dingy to the tourist sights and had absolutely no problem finding parking.
