Travel Trailer Storage

I am considering winter storage for our TT in Myrtle Beach from October through April. Has anyone had any experience with storage at the Myrtle Beach Travel Park, or any other local companies? We stayed at the campground and decided we would like to come down a couple of times during the winter, but would prefer to not have to tow it down in possible bad weather. Am concerned about security while in storage. It has always been parked in our driveway, so we never had to really worry about break-ins, etc., so this would be something new for us. The numbers for storage at the park make it attractive versus towing in the winter. Would like to hear from anyone with experience.

My wife & I have a permanent park model in MBTP. When I retire, and spend a lot more time there....I'm going to offer a level and setup service for people that use the MBTP storage drag and drop. I'm pretty sure it is park policy, and not the guys who drive the trucks. They are just following orders, and they move a BUNCH of trailers in and out every day. Tippy Toe and Coast RV do a good job, but sometimes I cringe when I see one come in or out with those 2, due to tires looking about flat. Both have storage lots up on Hwy 90, and run up 22 to get there. Maybe the tires don't get hot enough in that short a distance, but it makes me wonder how many go BOOM!

That is exactly what I am worried about, how well someone elses' property is treated. I know that they say that tire psi gets checked and trailer gets washed, but is it really done? These units are an investment, so you would really hate to see it get abused. Once you sign, you relieve them of anything that may happen. I am still not 100% sold on it.

  • Tippy Toes will do what ever level of set up you ask for. They can put on site and level as well as put out you hoses and power cords as well,as turn your air conditioning and refrigerator. However, neither of these companies will take your unit down south to the mega campgrounds like Ocean Lakes or Lakewood.
  • We just spent 9 days there and left this morning. During the week we did see Coast RV trucks quite a few times and Tippy Toe as well. My wife and I also thought of another concern with storing at the park, which is, what if they do not have a site available for a particular time that we can come down? If we store with Coast or Tippy Toe, they can bring it to whichever park we choose that has a site available. Obviously our preference at this time is MBTP, but our schedule is not 100% flexible yet. I will call these other 2 companies and get some info.

Does Tippy Toe level and set up your trailer? MBTP said they do not. The only problem I have with that is that if I store the TT, I would not go down with my pickup, which I would need to get the trailer on the Andersen Levelers.
  • We stayed at MBTP for 8 months in 2014/15. They store quite a few rvs and I never heard of a problem. At the time we had a 5th wheel and they would not store it. We currently use Tippy Toes. They store over 900 rvs on their property. Call them in advance and they bring it and put it on your site and pick it up when you leave. They also do any and all repairs that you might require. Another company to check out is Coast RV. There are a few more available for the NMB area but are much smaller operations.
