DAS, the ranger we talked to said that is 22 feet per vehicle -- our truck is 16 and the trailer is 15, and the whole deal bends in the middle! We took Sonora Pass (108) without ever crossing the yellow line -- I did so only after asking the CHP, and they said no problem. So maybe someday, the infamous 198?
And yes -- there is National Forest land not far from Grant Grove that is open for camping most of the time. Right now, all of the roads are gated and locked due to snow, and also due to the Rough Fire, which tore through a lot of that area. Many downed trees across the roads.
