when is the best time of the year to go to texas? late september early oct.don't want realy hot weather

We were there in mid-October and it was fantastic. Great weather. DW got to see the Alamo and the River Walk. Which she hasn't stopped talking about yet. We were fortunate enough to camp at Ft. Sam Houston military base, just north of town. A very short ride to a parking lot, $10 a day, and a very, very short walk to the Alamo. Cross the street and you're at the rive walk. October was great for us!
