when is the best time of the year to go to texas? late september early oct.don't want realy hot weather

I'm going to throw this out there, too... My favorite time to go camping around here is in June-August. The state parks always have openings, and I am always alone on the trails in the summer. I LOVE the heat, except when I am dressed up to go somewhere. But, I have learned to carry a small cooler with six bottles of chilled water in my backpack when hiking. It is all about hydration.
