GordonThree,
Your State Park google maps CG pic is right on the beach with very soft sand that you'd be sitting on your vehicle's frame instantly if you drove off the concrete. It's one place the campers/RV'ers don't want trees as has been stated by them in yearly polls at the registration booth. Yes it is tight sites but it sure doesn't stop the throngs of RV'ers from coming as the CG is full all season long every year and there's a very long waiting list. Step out of your RV with your bathing suit on and skip the sandals as it's clean soft golden sand to the water's edge and the bottom of the lakes is the same sand with no rock or grass or vegetation. In fact, it's the most popular State Park in the entire state!
Besides, people mob the CG for the surroundings, the long pier, the gorgeous beach, the beach sports or beach walking, swimming, fishing, Lake Michigan spectacular sunsets, the big Grand River and the boats, the boardwalk to downtown, all the constant free live entertainment/shopping/outside and inside dining everywhere downtown, the big musical fountain, the marinas, the constant beautiful parks along the river and all over town, free music concerts in Central Park, outdoor dances at the waterfront stadium and other programs, and so much more. Few campers spend any amount of time in their RV's other than to sleep or eat some meals because they are out doing things constantly dawn to dusk or even till midnight or later! Then they come back again year after year after year so they can't hate it too much!
